Why you gain weight during menopause
Gaining weight can start a few years before you actually enter the period of menopause. For women who experience early menopause (in their 40s or even earlier), weight gain can happen earlier.

In majority of cases, women tend to pack in the pounds at the abdomen more than at any part of the body. On average, you can gain one pound a year from the start of menopause up to the succeeding 15 years or so.
