Although one can assume that the intent of anyone spending time in a training facility is to learn the skills necessary to be successful, a newer employee may find herself more comfortable with taking initiative than participating in a one-on-one learning environment. This can work to your advantage and help you reach your goals faster.
One of the first things you should ask yourself when you are planning to receive one-on-one learning is whether or not you are comfortable with meeting the instructor face-to-face. If this does not feel right, you may need to reconsider the circumstances under which you choose to attend the training.
Ask yourself if you want to attend the one-on-one learning because you have a problem or challenge that needs to be addressed. If you feel comfortable with making an appointment and then meeting in person with your new trainer, your confidence should increase. Try to recall the last time you met with your trainer for some one-on-one time.
One common reason for attending such training is scheduling conflicts. With so many people vying for time at a training facility, scheduling conflicts can occur at any time, and it is up to the person doing the training to make sure they schedule a session.
Taking Initiative When Scheduling A Session Regardless of whether you have had a negative experience with meeting with a one-on-one learning trainer, chances are you are more comfortable taking initiative when scheduling a meeting. Because everyone has their own schedule, you need to set aside time to make an appointment for yourself. Do not let any scheduling conflicts get in the way of your meeting with your trainer.
Offer to reschedule your session on a later date, especially if there is no availability. When you do not have a slot in your schedule, you should offer to reschedule. Many employees take the initiative to meet with their trainers and let them know that they need to reschedule and expect the trainer to accommodate them.
Offering to reschedule an appointment is a great way to let the trainer know that you understand that you will not be able to make your appointment. Remember, even if your appointment is a cancellation, you can still offer to reschedule. Even if you think you may miss your appointment, try to offer to reschedule before the training session is scheduled to end.
Take the initiative to call the training facility or send them an email to schedule your appointment. Whether you prefer phone or email, you can always call and reschedule your session. In addition, you can always send an email with all of the information that will need to be provided for the meeting.
Letting the company know how busy you are, can help you take the initiative to reschedule. If you offer to reschedule your appointment on the same day you made the initial appointment, the company will likely schedule another session for you. With that information, they can set your appointment for the next day.
Take the initiative to offer to reschedule your session. You can also find out if the training facility offers last minute appointments, allowing you to reschedule on the same day that you originally made your appointment. In most cases, this type of training facility will be more accommodating and more willing to reschedule your appointment if you have a small amount of notice.
Take the initiative to reschedule your appointment for the next day if you were able to make it. With that information, you can have the training facility to book your session for the next day without any disruption. There is no reason to continue to work when you are not fully prepared, so you may as well take the opportunity to find out if the training facility is willing to reschedule your session for the next day.
