The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released modalities for licencing banks under the new operational universal banking regime. A circular released yesterday titled, ‘CBN Scope, Conditions, and Minimum Standards for Commercial Banks Regulation’ and signed by the governor, Lamido Sanusi, outlined conditions under which banks would be issued new licences to operate at regional, national, and international levels.
